Give
The Gift Of Life, Donate Blood
The Costa Rican blood bank is making an
appeal for donations as it heads into the
busy holiday season, when traffic accidents
and other conditions, along with a drop in
donations, put a strain on the blood supply.
Traditionally in December blood bank faces a
considerable drop in donations and increases
demands for emergencies, depleting reserves
quickly.
Erna Meléndez, director of the blood bank,
stresses that donating blood can be a very
good Christmas gift and is urging everyone
to donate.
To that end the blood bank will be out in
communities and commercial centres to
attract donours,.
Meléndez added that the problem is
aggravated with the December holiday closing
of many public institutions where blood
donations are common.
