Panama Lawyers Analyze Cuban Five Case
PANAMA - Panamanian expert lawyers analyze today the
arbitrary process to which the Cuban
anti-terrorists imprisoned in US jails as
part of the academic forum "The Case of the
Five: Legality and justice".
The National Bar Association hosts the event
sponsored by the University of Panama the
University Foundation for Research and
Development and the Society of International
Studies, the National Association of Carrer
Diplomats and the Panama Chapter of the
American Association of Jurists.
According to organizers the event will allow
a reflection on the topic with practitioners
and academics linked to international law
and relations.
The experts said this is because of the
global impact of a flawed judicial process
in which the American system violated
precepts of its own Constitution.
Gerardo Hernández, Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon
Labañino, Antonio Guerrero and René González
serving sentences between double life
imprisonment and 15 years in prison for
infiltrating South Floridan gangs with a
thick file of terrorist acts against Cuba.
The program includes presentations on
various aspects of the case including
violations of the US constitution, human and
family rights.
Among the institution invited to the forum
appear The Supreme Court, the American
Council of Churches; Service for Peace and
Justice, the Union of Journalists of Panama
the National Autonomy of Chiriqui.
The opening message will be in charge of the
Chairman of the National Bar Association,
Rubén Elías Rodríguez, while former Foreign
Minister Jorge Eduardo Ritter will present
the details of the forum. |
