Nicaragua: Disability Study Begins in
Chinandega
MANAGUA - The
Cuban-Nicaragua brigade "Todo con Voz" began
on Wednesday the disability study in the
Chinandega department, as part of government
efforts to aid one of the most marginalized
sectors.
Local authorities led by Chinandega Mayor
Enrique Saravia and Heath Director Luis
Ramon Lindo, received on Tuesday the medical
brigade.
After finishing their work in Masaya and
Mataglapa departments, the brigade made up
by 68 Cuban doctor and specialists will work
Chinandega for a month.
The study carried out by the
multidisciplinary group has as objective to
find out the main causes of disability in
Nicaraguan municipalities' settlers.
Doctor finished their work last week in
Matagalpa, where they saw 8,250 local
people, 300 of them with severe disabilities
that need to be assisted quickly by
specialists, according to statistic figures
published by the brigade coordinator,
Miladys Orraca.
Orraca pointed out that they assisted about
26,000 Nicaraguans in Masaya and Matagalpa,
8,000 of them with some kind of disability.
Cuban specialists began their work in
Nicaragua in October to find out the main
causes of Nicaraguan disabled people, in
order to help government and health system
to plan assistance programs for these
people. |
