Bolivia Guarantees Aid for the Elderly
LA PAZ - Bolivian
government guaranteed a $250-million budget
for 2010 destined for the payment of an aid
to people over 60 years old, highlights Cambio daily on Monday.
According to the daily, which quotes
statements of the Vice Minister of Pensions
and Financial Services Mario Guillen, the
so-called Dignity Income of the State is in
conditions to cover any contingency that may
happen with the international price of oil
taking into account that the bond is paid
with resources of the Direct Tax on
Hydrocarbons (IDH).
The official added that the benefit to the
elderly is also financed by the resources
coming from the profitability of the
companies through the Collective
Capitalization Fund (FCC) and the General
Treasury of the Nation (TNG).
The Executive began the payment of the
Dignity Income on February 2008 with 200
boliviano per month ($28) for those who had
no pension, and 150 boliviano ($21) for
those who have it.
According to official statistics, the
payment of the income benefited 687, 962
elderly until December 2008 and of that
number, 45,38 percent are men and 54, 62 are
women.
The government also implemented other aids
as the Juancito Pinto bond, for students and
the Juana Azurduy bond, which is distributed
among pregnant women to prevent the maternal
and child mortality. |
