Honduran Elections A Failure
TEGUCIGALPA - Honduran social and political
sectors opposed to the military coup
announced they will celebrate the de facto
regime's failure in the Sunday elections.
The National Front against the Coup d'Etat
stated in a release that abstentionism, as
of results of a monitoring nationwide, has
reached at least 70 percent.
Considering this result is a great victory
of the Honduran people, the front invites
the whole people in resistance to celebrate
the dictatorship's defeat, the document
stressed.
President Manuel Zelaya, against the June 28
military coup, confirmed those data and
stressed that absenteeism has reached 75
percent in the country's some regions.
Spokespeople of the de facto government and
mass media, controlled by power groups
financing the military coup, assured that
people's affluence to vote was massive and
termed the day a success.
The Front announced an act after midday and
then a caravan of vehicles in the afternoon
in the capital. |
