Bolivian Textiles to Brazil Market

Bolivian media on Sunday headlined Brazil''s
decision to import 21 million dollars in
textiles from Bolivia with no imports
tariffs.
According to the Cochabamba-based newspaper
Los Tiempos, local businesspeople expressed
interest in Brazilian President Luis Inacio
Lula da Silva's announcement on Saturday.
At the ceremony to sign the protocol to
finance the construction of the Villa Tunari-San
Ignacio de Moxos (Beni) road, Lula said that
amount equals the preferences lost on the US
market last year.
It is a major occasion for Bolivia to
develop its industry and to add value to its
products, Lula said during his four-hour
visit to the region of El Chapare.
The newspaper La Prensa reported that
President Evo Morales had made it clear that
Brazil's assistance is unconditional,
alluding to the country's obligations with
the United States in the fight against drug
trafficking and the eradication of coca
leaves.
Lula noted that his government has committed
to creating a professional training center
for boys and girls in Bolivia.
