Chavez Welcomes Argentinian President
Caracas -
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez welcomed on
Tuesday at the Miraflores Palace his
Argentinian peer Cristina Fernandez, who is
paying an official visit to this capital.
In his welcoming speech, Chavez highlighted
that Fernandez is a true patriot "and I do
not exaggerate when I say she carries the
passion and spirit of Jose de San Martin,
General Juana Azurdui and Eva Peron, all of
them as examples of the great struggle for
independence."
The Argentinian president said that despite
the differences that shade relations, we
continue working for a better future, based
on the possibility of choosing, equality and
justice.
Fernandez criticized the sectors that wish
to take nations back to the past, without
caring about the people's quality of life.
Referring to her visit to Venezuela, she
said it would contribute to follow the path
of integration, which is essential and
necessary to fulfill the social plans.
Fernandez' visit was preceded by the
beginning of a businesspeople meeting, in
which they announced the buy of 10,000
vehicles to Argentina that were originally
agreed with Colombia.
The operation with the Colombia's automobile
industry was suspended after that country's
President Alvaro Uribe announced that they
would establish seven US military bases in
that territory.
This situation is seen by Venezuela as a
threat, due to the marked US hostility
towards President Hugo Chavez' government,
including participation of the United States
in the coup d'etat in 2002. |
