Broad Dialogue in Guatemala
Mazatenango - A broad dialogue, with an active
role played by youngsters and women,
characterized here the 14th presidential
program "Gobernando con el Pueblo"
(Governing with the People) held for two
days in Suchitepequez department.
President Alvaro Colom was present in some
stages of the program, including an
accounting of his government's performance
before 600 leaders of the territory and the
population in general.
This exchange led authorities to make 56
commitments with communities in
Suchitepequez, including the inauguration of
two schools in Mazatenango, as part of the
presidential program Escuelas Abiertas (Open
Schools).
Besides, a census is expected to start in 13
municipalities in the next few days to be
included in its peer Mi Familia Progresa (My
Family Makes Progress) in 2010.
The next Governing with the People exchange
has been scheduled for southern Santa Rosa
department on a date yet to be set. |
