Costa Rica Offers Tourists Digital Maps
Costa Rica has created an Internet-based
digital map for tourists, tourism
authorities said on Tuesday.
The Camara Nacional de Turismo (CANATUR)
said the service would provide information
on Costa Rica's borders and roads, main
tourism destinations and available services
to a global audience of potential tourists.
The map shows localities, beaches and
national parks in each province, as well as
the most popular recreation activities in
each area, including surfing, bird-watching
and turtle sanctuaries.
CANATUR president Gonzalo Vargas said
the initiative sought to develop a product
"more suitable to current tourists," who use
the Internet to get information about
tourist destinations.
"The platform presents a new product with
much more accessibility for people in all
parts of the world. It will give tourists
easy and fast ways to access Costa Rican
tourist destinations," Vargas said.
The map also shows public buildings such as
hospitals, airports and gas stations, as
well as distances between places and
national and secondary highways.
