AH1N1 Flu Death Toll Rises to 25 in Costa

The
number of AH1N1 deaths in Costa Rica has
risen to 25 while the number of cases being
investigated by the Investigación y
Enseñanza en Nutrición y Salud (INCIENSA)
has risen to 1.000, confirmed the ministerio
de Salud on Tuesday.
The INCIENSA is the local laboratory that
either confirms or discards the AH1N1
infection.
The latest three victims are three women
aged 60, 29 and 28, who died last week but
only confirmed by the INCIENSA on Tuesday.
The ministerio de Salud has come under
criticism for operating the INCIENSA
laboratory from 8am to 5pm from Monday to
Friday, while the AH1N1 is attacking on a 24
hour basis.
Salud officials say the number of confirmed
cases is now 755, 37 more than last week and
many more to come once all the INCIENSA
results are in.
