Venezuelan Unions Slam Destabilizing Plan

Caracas -  Venezuelan trade unions were declared on alert Monday after denouncing an opposition plan to use workers in destabilizing plans and leave the country without supply.

The National Workers' Union (UNETE) stated that trade unions affiliated to that entity are expecting projects from managerial sectors to boycott activities and affect the supply of food and other goods.

A statement from the organization stressed that small groups in the workers' movement try to bolster the position of the bourgeoisie and the policy of stockpiling several products like sugar and coffee.

The accusation coincided with a statement from the Revolutionary Labor Party in the Bolivar state, which accused a spying movement of manipulating workers' protests in the industrial region of Guayana.

Oposition parties like "Accion Democratica" and "Causa R" are carrying out a drive to discredit the government, and try to use unions that fight for demands like investments in basic industries and arrears, the organization stated.
