Three
Ministers To Resign Today
Viviana Martín, will join fellow ministers,
Guillermo Zúńiga and Francisco Morales in
resigning their cabinet posts today.
The resignations by the ministrea de
Justicia (Martín), the ministro de Hacienda
(Zúńiga) and the ministro de Trabajo
(Morales) was confirmed by the ministro de
la presidencia, Rodrigo Arias.
The resignations are not a wave of
defections against the Arias administration,
but rather in complaince with a elections
tribunals that demands that any public
official who aspires to become a legislator,
they must resign their public post up to six
months prior to the presidential elections.
All three, Martín, Zúńiga and Morales are
expected to take an important role in the
government of Laura Chinchilla, if she is
elected president on February 7, 2010.
Ministro Arias did not announce
replacements, saying only that his brother,
the president, is evaluating options.
