Bolivia Opens Anti-Corruption Units
La Paz - Bolivian
Government Minister Alfredo Rada instituted
units and specialized boards of directors to
fight corruption in that ministry and the
police. The minister said that fighting that
scourge with straightforward public
administration policies is a major challenge
today for the institution.
Rada appointed Maria Elsa Crispin as the
Transparency Unit head.
The new official will work directly with the
ministries of Government and of
Institutional Transparency and Struggle
against Corruption.
The minister assigned Maria Luisa Quezada to
the recently created Reform and Police
Transparency General Director's Office and
execution of plans and crime preventive
strategies, and Teresa Rosso to the City
Security General Director's Office.
Pedro Marcelo Oliva was assigned to the
Government Ministry Planning Director's
Office.
The struggle against corruption is one of
the main points of President Evo Morales'
Executive program.
As part of the efforts to make the struggle
against drug trafficking a nationwide
concern, the Government Ministry created on
Thursday an Executive Unit for Integral
Struggle against that scourge.
The official said the group will be in
charge of administering the $20 million
allocated by the Executive to fight drugs
and related crimes in 2009.
