Caja Guarantees
Medication
The Caja Costarricense
del Seguro Social (CCSS)
board of directors has
approved a change to its
policies of guaranteeing
that not only those in
extreme poverty have
access to free
medication.
The CCSS decision will
also now include all
adults over the age of
65 and the handicapped,
widowed women who
suffered an economical
loss with the death of
their husband, orphan
minors and the indigent,
even though they have
not contributed to the
social security system.
The change ensures that
the above groups can
benefit from the ¢57.500
monthly allotment to
purchase medication.
