Consumption Recedes
Costa Ricans are starting to apply the brakes on consumption. Several cues to this trend are evident.

One of them is that store sales, even they have kept on increasing, are doing so at a much slower pace, according to the Economic Activity Monthly Index from the Central Bank.

The business indicator –that was increasing at 8.3 percent at the end of last year– slowed down to 5.7 percent in July, according to official information.
