Venezuelan Women Urged
to Improve Society
CARCAS -
Venezuelan Minister of
Women's Affairs Maria
Leon urged her peers to
step up work to
construct an
increasingly better
society with equality
for all.
We need to step up
efforts and intensify
the struggle within the
process promoted by
President Hugo Chavez,
said Leon while
introducing the new
leadership of INAMUJER
(the National Women's
Institute.)
She stressed that her
fellow countrywomen have
not crossed their arms,
but rather carry out
multiple actions to
occupy the place they
really deserve in
society.
In this regard, she
highlighted their
involvement in political
life by achieving gender
parity in the process of
nomination to posts in
coming regional
elections of November
23.
She also referred to the
fight against violence
toward women and actions
carried out to rescue
Venezuelan heroines'
legacy.
We will give a new boost
to our work to become a
point of reference, in
the continent and
worldwide, in the
construction of the
socialist project,
asserted Leon.
She told Prensa Latina
that they will also
fight tirelessly for the
release of the five
anti-terrorist Cuban
fighters unjustly held
in US prisons.
