3G iPhone Unlocked And
Working in Costa Rica
Good news for cellular
phone junkies - the new
iPhone 3G can now be
used in Costa Rica.
The latest iPhone hit
the market in July and
was to have been
"unblock" proof, as
Apple was to have
improved the security
after the first
generation iPhone was
easily unblocked, using
a software called
"jailbreak".
The 3G has been unlocked
and definitely works on
the Instituto
Costarricense de
Electricidad (ICE) GSM
network.
However, the iPhone is
not "homolgado"
(approved) by ICE to
work on its network.
Although the 2G iPhone
was never approved, it
has worked fine in Costa
Rica. (Many of the
photos displayed on the
front page of this
publication have been
taken on an iPhone and
sent by way of email to
our office.)
Although the 3G iPhone
can be unblocked and has
been proven to work in
Costa Rica, it doesn't
come cheap.
An 8Gb 3G iPhone that
sells in the US for
about us$299 will set
you back us$1.000 (at
least) in Costa Rica.
But, hey what price can
you put on being one of
the first to have and
use a 3G iPhone in Costa
Rica?
