El Salvador FMLN Enjoys Pre-Ballot Support
SAN SALVADOR - El Salvador Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front (FMLN) Party went to register its candidates for the March 2009 presidential race.

FMLN candidates, journalist Mauricio Funes and Salvador Sanchez Ceren, were accompanied near the Supreme Election Court (TSE) to officially register.

Five blocks of supporters cheered on the leading opposition party president and vice president hopefuls with national and party flags.

La Prensa Grafica daily says they were accompanied to the TSE, among other, by party General Coordinator Medardo Gonzalez; Election Official Norma Guevara.

However, government Alianza Republicana Nacionalista has not appointed a vice president, Conciliacion Nacional Party barely announced its president-to-be Sunday and the Christian Democrats have appointed neither yet.

Meanwhile, Cambio Democratico and Frente Democratico Revolucionario refused to participate, adds the daily.
