Growth And Inflation
The International
Monetary Fund (IMF)
considers that the
output of Costa Rica
will grow a little more
this year than what the
forecast by the Banco
Central de Costa Rica (BCCR)
- Central Bank.
The IMF also believes
that inflation will be a
little less than
expected. In the World
Economic Outlook
recently published, as
it expects a growth of
the Gross Domestic
Product of 4% for
2008, more than the 3.3%
estimated by the Central
Bank.
Costa Rican growth is
very close to the 3.9%
expected for the world
this year. Last year it
was 5%.
Regarding inflation, the
IMF foresees 13% as the
figure for 2008.
According to the Central
Bank, it will be 14.2%
This year’s first three
quarters, inflation
reached 11.83 %. For
next year, both the IMF
and the Central Bank
agree that inflation
will be 9%. |
