Thousands of Costa
Ricans jammed the San
José airport in wait for
their "idol",
celebrating the arrival
of María José Castillo.
Amid the heavy morning
rain, the crowd cheered
as María came out of the
airport terminal and
began her trip to
Heredia, when the sun
shone on her caravan as
she passed the Alajuela
- Heredia border.
María was accompanied by
a production team of
Latin American Idol
stopping briefly to film
the crowds gathered in
communities like Río
Segundo, San Joaquín de
Flores, Heredia centre,
ending up at Parque de
Barva, where she was met
by local politicians and
community leaders.
The next few days
María's calendar will be
filled with public
appearances, including a
meeting today with Costa
Rican president, Oscar
Arias at his home in
Rohrmoser.
Eighteen year old María
told the crowd that her
experience at Latin
American Idol has given
her maturity and a
different way of
thinking.
