Playas de Brasilito And Flamingo Cut Off By Rain
October is perhaps the single worst month of the rainy season and in the first two days heavy rainfalls and mudslides have causes major damage, the worst so far is in San José and Guanacaste.

In areas like Tirrases de Curridabat and Desamparados, swollen rivers and landslides threaten the lives of many, as they watch their houses either being tumbled over by the mud and water or ready to fall over the banks a river.

In Guancaste, two big tourists destinations - Brasilito and Flamingo - were left cut off by the heavy rain when the raging waters of the river Zapote collapsed a main bridge that connects the communities with Tamarindo and the rest of Guanacaste.

The collapsed bridge has a gaping 1 and one half metre separation from the road, making passage by vehicles impossible.

CONAVI (transportation officials) would not make a guess as to when the bridge could be repaired, dispatching inspectors to the site to evaluate the full extent of the damage that saw the base of the bridge washed away from the strong currents.
