Volunteers Clean Up
Downtown San José
With brooms, shovels and
buckets of water, some
200 volunteers took part
in the clean up of some
13 blocks of downtown
San José.
The project nicknames Q-adra
(cuadra or block) is
being sponsored by some
20 local businesses
including hotels,
service companies and
retailers, to give the
downtown core a cleaner
look.
Many visitors (foreign
and national) visiting
downtown San José for
the first time take home
the stench and vision of
the dirt that is part of
the downtown core.
The volunteers, the
majority workers for the
sponsoring businesses
took to the streets at
9am Saturday, cleaning
sidewalks, gutters,
walks and traffic signs
along the boulevard of
Avenida Central.
The Municipalidad de San
José fully supports the
initiative and provided
the materials for the
work and vans to haul
away trash. |
