Sun Shines On Limón
Finally, the rain stopped and sun shone on Limón, ending a disastrous week for the Caribbean province, where some 46.000 people were affected of which 6.000 had to be sheltered and cutting off communities.

The most affected were Matina and Sixaola, where the constant rain for more than eight days caused rivers to swell and breach their banks, flooding homes and plantations.

Many were up to their ankles in water in ther homes, while for others the water level was so high that they had to abandon their homes anid belongings, taking shelter in community centres, schools and temporary tents, with only the clothes on their backs.

The water left entire communities under water. Some say this is the worst flooding in the last 30 years.

The Comisión Nacional de Emergencias (CNE) - national emergency commission - estimates that propertu damage surpasses ˘42 billion colones. In Panama, across the border from Costa Rica, eight people lost their lives.
