Guatemala, UN to Probe Bus Killing
Guatemala - The International Commission against Impunity in Guatemala (CICIG) will assume investigation of the killing of 15 Nicaraguans and one Dutchman in the eastern department of Zacapa.

The mass murder occurred on November 8, when a bus from Nicaragua crossed the El Salvador-Guatemala border and was intercepted by unknown people, who killed the passengers and then burned the vehicle.

The Public Ministry hopes those responsible for the crime are found with the advice of the CICIG experts.

That commission was created through an agreement between the Guatemalan government and the UN to investigate and dismantle parallel groups entrenched in the State structures.

There are several hypotheses about the incident, but the most recurrent one is that between 18 and 22 kilograms of cocaine were being smuggled on the bus.
