Tibás Potholes Will Be
Around For Some Time
The hope of the
residents of Tibás to be
finally rid of all the
potholes seems to be
going up in smoke, as
the Contraloría General
de la República
(Comptroller's office)
failed to authorized
expenditures for road
surfacing.
The municipality of
Tibás was looking
forward to receiving
budget approval for some
¢1.4 billion colones to
fixed the roads, as well
to maintain some of the
parks and other
community projects.
The CGR notfied the
mayor of Tibás, Jorge
Salas, saying that
errors on the part of
the municipality, like
not providing
certificates by the
municipal accountant and
treasurer of the details
of the surplus of funds
by the municipality.
The CGR, in its notice
to Salas, reminded the
mayor that the CGR had
given the municipality a
grace period to present
the certification, but
it was never done.
"The liquidation of the
207 Budget of the
Municipality of Tibás
was presented untimely,
incomplete and
containing
misinformation,
inaccurate", said the
notice.
Salas said that the
municipality will be
presenting a new
proposal in the coming
days, this time only for
¢500 million colones in
an effort to satisfy the
growing number of
complaints by residents
of the condition of the
roads in the
municipality.
Although most of the
roads in the
municipality are in the
worst of conditions,
Salas said that the
roads around the
Saprissa stadium, Colima
and Cuatro Reinas are
the worst and will get
priority attention if
and when they get budget
approval by the CGR. |
