Education Officials Will Meet With Students This Week
Officials of the Ministerio de Educación Pública (MEP) say they will meet with students on Wednesday, following the disturbance caused by students last Friday as they protested against having to give exams which they say they are not prepared for due to the almost four weeks of teacher strike.

The MEP vice-minister, Alejandrina Mata, assured that the meeting will go ahead as planned. The vice-minister added that they do not have the names of the students and have no way of identifying those responsible for the vandalism caused in Friday's protests.

Students are demanding that the MEP cancel this year's exams, feeling they are at the losing end of the long teacher's strike.

Some of the protestors broke windows of the Rofas building and caused damage to other property of the surrounding areas when they gathered on mass in the area of the MEP offices. Anti riot police were on hand to keep control.

The vice-minister said she would like to see those responsible for the vandalism punished but admitted that she has no idea who is responsible.

The vice-minister added that MEP officials will be talking to school principals this week to discuss what to do with the protesting students.
