Latin America Fingers Hostile Media
The Latin American Meeting against Media Terrorism, underway in this capital, emerges as an initiative aimed at defending sovereignty faced with destabilizing attempts of largest media at the service of imperial interests.

Issues linked to several trends of the phenomenon will be included in the Friday agenda of experts from 10 countries attending the meeting.

Venezuelan Communication and Information Minister Andres Izarra stated that large transnational media plots against independence, self-determination and the peoples integration.

Izarra warned of the impossibility of establishing a new world order, while communication giants have a hegemonical position in the information war.

"Media terrorism," said the minister, "is the weapon of the empire in the battle of ideas, hence the importance of arranging positions to counteract the attack."

The forum coincides with sessions of the Inter-American Press Society, which brings together owners of the most powerful media, actively supported by United States.
