Only A Couple of Weeks
Left of Summer
If the predictions b the
Instituto Meteorológico
Nacional (IMN) -
national weather service
- are correct, there
remains only two weeks
left of the summer or
"dry" season instead of
six.
Many of the beach hotels
are reporting record
numbers, some completely
full, as Costa Ricans
take advantage of the
last days of dry
weather, before the
rainy season kicks in.
Normally the rainy
season or winter
official begins mid May.
However, the IMN says
that the effects of La
Niña weather phenomenon
will bring the rain as
early as mid April.
Hotels like the
DoubleTree Resoirt by
Hilton in Puntarenas
reports that they are
full, At the Allegro
Papagayo in Guanacaste
reports no vacancy for
the coming weeks as they
are expecting a flood of
tourists, both nationals
and foreigners.
In Jacó, the closest
beach to the Central
Valley, the Sabamar says
that they are seeing the
same activity as during
Semana Santa.
The point is that many
are taking advantage of
the what could be a
short summer and the
cold weather experienced
in the Central Valley
during the last several
weeks, heading for the
beaches where the sun is
always shining and the
temperatures are hot.
