Fake Degrees Exposed in Nicaragua
Nicaraguan media denounced on Tuesday the scandalous behavior of several private education centers in the country for selling false diplomas to foreigners.

The situation was discovered last Monday when The New Daily newspaper has released selling of 50 certificates by the Freire Paulo Public University (UPF) to Italian citizens who do not speak Spanish and had not even studied one subject in that place, nor even arrived in Nicaragua.

When tackling the issue the Education Minister Miguel de Castilla denounced that 169 private academic centres, including universities, do the best business of their lives enrolling students who do not fulfill the requirements.

He emphasized that those centres cannot be checked by the Education Minister so quality is not provided, opening the doors to academic fraud and uncontrolled fees.

In this respect deputy Mario Valle President of the Education Commission at the National Assembly called his counterparts in Parliament to put an end to this situation so as to stop handling the University Autonomy Law.
