New Underwater Cable To
Boost Connection To The
World Wide Web
Costa Rica is soon to
have better internet
connection with the
outside world as the
installation of an
underwater cable in the
Pacific Ocean will begin
next Friday.
According to the
president of the
Instituto Costarricense
de Electricidad (ICE),
Pedro Pablo Quirós, the
170 kilometre (105 mile)
cable will run from
Parrita, southeast of
Jacó to California.
A cabling ship will be
installing the
underwater cable that
will sharply increase
Costa Rica's connection
to the World Wide Web
(www).
The work is expected to
be complete by July and
will be one of the few
countries in the world
that will both an
Atlantic and Pacific
connection to the web.
The cable is seen as
great value to the
development of Costa
Rica competitiveness and
to national services,
allowing large
international companies
like call centres or
industrial
manufacturers, to choose
Costa Rica. |
