ATA Cancels Costa Rica
Low Fare Flights
ATA Airlines, Inc.,
formerly known as
American Trans Air, a
low-cost scheduled
service and charter
airline based in
Indianapolis, Indiana,
has decided to cancel it
flights to Costa Rica
even before taking off.
The airline had
announced earlier this
year that it would
commence direct, low
cost, flights to Costa
Rica from the U.S. The
first flight was to have
been on March 15.
Now it seems the airline
will be putting off its
plans for the time
being, leaving a number
of passengers who had
booked on the airline
stranded. The airline
has said it would offer
full refund to all those
who purchased tickets.
The airline also on
March 6 announced the
cancellation of flights
from Chicago to Cancun
and Guadalajara, Mexico,
citing the high cost of
fuel making the route
"economically unfeasible
to continue low-fare
service".
The airline said that it
would be better using
its aircraft to the more
profitable charter
service business and
U.S. military contracts.
