Argentina to Handle Ecuador's Diplomatic Affairs With Colombia
The Ecuadoran government has entrusted Argentina with handling its diplomatic affairs with Colombia after the two countries severed ties following a border crisis last week, Colombian Foreign Minister Fernando Araujo said Monday.

"Ecuador's government has entrusted the Argentine government with representing it in Colombia," the minister said.

"We received a diplomatic note today and I got in touch with the Argentine ambassador straight away to express Colombia's wish to normalize diplomatic relations (with Ecuador)," he added.

Araujo said he is awaiting a response from the Ecuadoran government through Argentine diplomats regarding a revival of relations.

Meanwhile, Venezuela also said Monday that it will send its diplomats back to Colombia and name a new ambassador within days, Araujo added.

The Rio Group's meeting in the Dominican Republic succeeded in paving the way for a reconciliation between Colombia and its neighbors Ecuador and Venezuela after Colombian military raided rebels of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) in Ecuadoran territory on March 1.
