Ecuadorīs Correa Links Colombia-US
President of Ecuador Rafael Correa denounced in Nicaragua Thursday Colombiaīs aggressive policy, and said President Alvaro Uribe has embraced the same aggressive principles of the United States.

This is not just a problem between Ecuador and Colombia, but a regional matter in which Colombia represents the United States, the president said.

My homeland was raided by the Colombian military for no reason, said Correa during a joint press conference with his Nicaraguan peer Daniel Ortega.

He added that Uribe tried to sustain false arguments, but the lies fell before the weight of the truth.

The arguments of the Colombian head of State are a real mockery of the truth, said Correa, as he referred to Bogota maneuvers to justify the aggression and the massacre of FARC guerrillas who were taking part in negotiations to release hostages.

He said that if OAS (the Organization of American States) fails to condemn the attack in a meeting scheduled for March 17, "we will then have to throw OAS into the garbage of history." Correa called on Latin American countries not to let this situation go unpunished and stressed that tomorrow is the time to be or not to be, as several Latin American presidents will meet in the Dominican Republic for the Rio Group summit.

He hoped that this meeting of the Group of Rio won"t fail to discuss the issue and condemn the aggression.

Uribe and his "clumsy, warmongering speech" are a threat to Latin America, the Ecuadorian president declared.

"Let us be clear, in the Dominican Republic we must speak clearly for the sake and future of the region," he concluded.
