Panama, Mexico to Foster

Panama and Mexico will
seek to foster
diplomatic, economic and
trade relations during
Mexican President Felipe
Calderonīs visit to
Panama City.
According to the
official program
realesed by Panamaīs
Foreign Affairs
Ministry, Calderon is
expected to arrive in
Panama City at 09:00
hours (14:00 UTC).
Upon arrival, he will
attend the opening
ceremony of the 26th
International Trade Fair
"Expocomer 2008" along
with his Panamanian
counterpart Martin
Torrijos.
Calderonīs agenda also
includes holding
official talks with
Torrijos, to boost
businesses and trade
exchange, and foster
diplomatic and
cooperation relations,
according to an official
note by the Foreign
Affairs Ministry.
Mexico and Panama inked
two years ago two
cooperation agreements,
including nine projects
on the sugar cane
industry, public
affairs, environment,
technology and health.
Also included were 38
educational and cultural
projects, aimed at
treating disability,
culture, gender, sports
and scholarships, the
ministry states.
Calderon and Torrijos
will visit the Panama
Canal.
The Mexican statesman
will arrive in Panama
from El Salvador, his
first stopover in a tour
including the Dominican
Republic, to attend the
20th Rio Group Summit,
starting Friday in Santo
Domingo.
