Nicaragua, Venezuela Trade Pact Takes Off
Nicaragua shipped the first 750 cows that start the bilateral trade pact signed under the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas (ALBA).

Multinoticias Channel 4 morning broadcast and Radio Ya said the cargo was sent through Rama port, on the Atlantic coast.

Nicaragua's Union Nacional de Productores said these first 750 cows are part of 6,000 lot Nicaragua will sell Venezuela in 2008.

Radio Ya says for the first time Nicaraguan cattle exports exceed $1,000 a piece since a rancher hardly sales one cattle at $500.

Meanwhile, local ranchers and slaughterhouse executives voiced satisfaction for the entry to Venezuelan market of Nicaraguan cattle and meat whose funds will run animal farm retention program.

Nicaragua's Agriculture and Forest Ministry says the local slaughter houses monthly meat supply to Venezuela now round 500 tons that is equivalent to 6,000 tons a year.
