Many Nicaraguan Kids Not in School
Half a million Nicaraguan children are not included within the system of education, according to statistics from Education Ministry.

The number increased over recent years due to the policy implemented by neo-liberal governments of privatizing education system, official sources reported.

The problem was confronted by the now governing FSLN (Sandinista National Liberation Front) by providing free public teaching.

However less than a week before classes begin, many children cannot go to school because they lack birth certificates, uniforms or schools materials, prices of which have increased during the last years.

Government statistics reveal that nearly 47,000 children are in the streets of Managua, and FSLN will implement assistance programs to benefit them, according to First Lady Rosario Murillo.
