Poás Continues Volcanic
Activity
The volcán Poás
continues with its
eruptions of gases and
debris, the last being
on Monday, similar to
the eruption of January
13.
Vulcanologist Eliécer
Duarte said that the
column of gas reached
200 metres in height and
that the volcano is
acting similar to 1994
and the seventies when
the lake in the crater
dried up.
"It is a possibility,
but not definitive",
said Duarte.
Duarte added that if
that happens, it is much
more complicated this
time, as dust and
sediment from the
volcano will spread to
the communities which
may think it is volcanic
ash, but affects health
of people, animals and
vegetation.
