ALBA Establishes
Political Commission
The Sixth ALBA
(Bolivarian Alternative
for the Americas)
Political Commission
began deliberations on
Thursday, part of the
working agenda
elaborated for the
bloc's meeting.
Representatives of
Bolivia, Cuba,
Nicaragua, Venezuela and
Dominica started
deliberations to assess
cooperation issues among
the member nations of
that mechanism.
Venezuelan President
Hugo Chavez has
scheduled heads of State
to meet January 26, when
Nicaraguan and Bolivian
presidents, as well as a
Cuban representative,
are expected to attend.
The summit program also
includes the Fifth
Meeting of the ALBA
Bank's Technical
Financial Commission,
the authority's
Ministerial Council, a
social movement forum,
and other activities.
The diverse authorities
will finish the document
to be assessed by the
top representatives of
the relevant countries,
including the Political
Declaration, the
Foundational Minute of
the ALBA Bank and
Dominica's incorporation
into the organization.
The experts noted that
the cooperation plan
emerged as an
anti-imperialist and
revolutionary project
that boosts economic,
structural and social
independence, with the
new element this time of
a financial instrument,
subordinate to the
bloc's political
guidelines. |
