Gasoline Price Drop At The Stroke of Midnight
Holding off until midnight to fill the tank can save you money as the price of gasoline drops at the stroke of midnight.

A litre of super gasoline will drop ¢12 colones to ¢562; regular ¢8 colones to ¢551; while diesel will increase ¢8 colones to ¢521.

However, the lower prices on gasoline won't last too long as the state refinery, Refinadora Costarricense de Petroleo SA (Recope) asked the regulating body, the Autoridad Reguladora de los Servicios Públicos (Aresep), for a new increase last January 11.

When that increase is approved and goes into effect, super gasoline will jump ¢10 colones, regular ¢9 and diesel ¢3.

The request has yet to be analyzed by the Aresep and published in the official government publication La Gaceta before the increase can take effect.

Gasoline prices hit a record high last August when the price of a litre of super reached ¢620 colones.
