Taxis To Be Free of Stickers and Polarized Windows
Taxi drivers are being forced to remove all types of stickers, be it decorative, commercial, religious, sports, etc from their vehicles as well as all polarized tints on the windows or fail the Riteve - the vehicular inspection.

The order was handed down by the Consejo de Transporte Público (CTP), the same government agency that has ordered controls on the amount and type of advertising allowed on public buses.

Édgar Castro, of the CTP, said that polarized windows and stickers will be classified as "grave" (serious) an action that will not allow Riteve to issue the inspection circulation permit.

The decision was made on December 18, 2007, and was sent to Riteve SyC to be applied during inspection of taxi vehicles, which occurs every six months.

With the action, taxis will be completely red as it was intended and not masked in any way.

Although the CTP decision was to take effect on January 1, 2008, taxi drivers have until January 21 to remove all stickers and polarization or face fines by Tránsito (traffic) officials.
