Venezuela Readying for Hostage Release
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez announced on Wednesday that Colombian insurgents sent him the location coordinates for the release of former Colombian vice presidential candidate Clara Rojas and former congresswoman Consuelo Gonzalez.

"We have the coordinates in the mountains of Colombia to locate Clara and Consuelo," said Chavez during a ceremony to celebrate the qualification of the Venezuelan volleyball female and male teams for the Beijing'08 Olympics.

Chavez explained that he ordered Venezuelan Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro to contact his Colombian peer Francisco Araujo for Bogota to authorize the arrival of Venezuelan helicopters.

He added that if permission is granted, the craft might take off early Thursday for the Guaviare area to find the two women, whose release triggered an unsuccessful international effort in late 2007..
