The intensification of preparations for the election of parliamentary deputies and delegates to the provincial government on January 20 marked this week in Cuba.

The president of the National Electoral Council (CEN), Maria Esther Reus, told press attention is focused on seminars for the training of the members of the nearly 39,000 polling sites.

Similarly, it will be held a public campaign supported by nongovernmental organizations over the voting system, Reus explained, and recalled that over half million people will vote for the first time in this kind of elections.

The also minister of justice noted the united vote strategy will be encouraged, as a way to support unity, independence, sovereignty, the homeland, and the Revolution.

The 1,815 candidates for the seats, 614 of them for the People's Power National Assembly, will keep attending meetings with neighbors from the municipalities and districts that they represent.

Over 300,000 Cubans will directly support the elections as electoral authorities, from the national level to the constituency, the official noted.
