Chinese Envoy Highlights
China-Costa Rica
Relations
China-Costa Rica
diplomatic relations,
which were established
just seven months ago,
have made rapid progress
and will have a "very
good" future, Chinese
Ambassador to San José,
Wang Xiaoyuan, said
Friday.
Speaking at the Foreign
Press Association in
Costa Rica, Wang said
that China and Costa
Rica have carried out
intense high-level
exchanges since the two
countries opened
diplomatic ties on June
1.
Wang cited Costa Rican
President Oscar Arias'
visit to China in late
October, during which 12
accords were signed on
bilateral cooperation in
various sectors,
including politics,
economy, trade, culture,
oil and banking.
Wang said Chinese
President Hu Jintao will
visit Costa Rica on a
convenient date since he
has been invited by
Arias.
The cooperation between
China and Costa Rica has
great potential and it
is real, Wang said.
Costa Rica is a good
place for China to
invest due to its
geographical position,
stability and economy,
as well as its free
trade agreement (FTA)
with the United States,
Wang said.
China and Costa Rica
have started talks on a
FTA, Wang added.
