Autistic Orlando Boy Seeks Treatment in Costa Rica
ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - A Central Florida family is on their way to Central America to seek a treatment for their son's autism.

We first shared 7-year-old Matthew Faiella's story in December. The entire family, Matthew and parents Daniel and Ruth, left this morning for Costa Rica to seek adult stem cell treatment.

"I have great hope he'll be carrying on conversations, acting like a 7-year-old, instead of a 3 or 4-year-old in a 7-year-old's body," said Daniel.

The magical building block stem cells are not taken from embryos, but aren't yet available in the U.S. to treat autism.

Matthew's family hopes the trip will help him live a more normal life and give hope to others. His father says they have, "a lot of hope and belief it's going to go well."

The family returns to Orlando next weekend.
