Police Raid Calle de la Amargura Confiscating Drugs and Weapons
The Calle de la Amargura in San Pedro de Oca, east of the San Pedro Mall, was the scene for a strong police operation that resulted in the detention of eleven people.

The Calle de la Amargura is hot night spot for young partygoers, especially the university crowd. It is also known for its drug problem and drunken brawls.

Saturday night, officials of the Fuerza Pública, assisted by the canine unit, descended on the area detaining the 11 for possession of cocaine and firearms. A number of the detained were undocumented foreigners.

Authorities similar raids will be carried out in other "critical" sectors in the coming days.
