New Car Fair Packed With
Deals Go Underway

The annual car fair
known as Expomóvil got
underway yesterday,
bringing together new
car dealers, financial
institutions and buyers
all in one location.
The Expomóvil is located
in La Asunción de Belén,
next to the Lizano
plant, 600 metres north
of the Aquamanía.
The cost of entry is
¢2.000 colones and
parking can set you back
another ¢1.000. For
those in the market for
a new car, the cost is
nothing compared to the
savings, according to
Expomóvil organizers.
Some of the deals on
hand are a Yaris
Hatchback for us$18.000,
and an Audi A3 for
us$33.900, which is
below the prices
normally found at the
dealer.
On hand are also private
banks ready to offer
financing. Scotiabank
and HSBC are two private
banks, who are prepared
to offer up to 80%
financing to qualified
buyers.
Scotiabank and HSBC are
offering financing of a
fixed 7% and 7.25%,
respectively, for the
first year and then
prime rate plus 3.75%
for the balance.
Some visitors at the
fair yesterday said they
had been shopping around
for a new car and
decided to way for the
fair before making their
decision. A number of
buyers were also looking
to trade in their big
vehicles for a smaller
and more economical one.
Expomóvil organizers say
that the fair, that goes
on until March 2,
expects to sell between
800 and 1.000 vehicles.
