New Car Fair Packed With Deals Go Underway Yesterday
The annual car fair known as Expomóvil got underway yesterday, bringing together new car dealers, financial institutions and buyers all in one location.

The Expomóvil is located in La Asunción de Belén, next to the Lizano plant, 600 metres north of the Aquamanía.

The cost of entry is ¢2.000 colones and parking can set you back another ¢1.000. For those in the market for a new car, the cost is nothing compared to the savings, according to Expomóvil organizers.

Some of the deals on hand are a Yaris Hatchback for us$18.000, and an Audi A3 for us$33.900, which is below the prices normally found at the dealer.

On hand are also private banks ready to offer financing. Scotiabank and HSBC are two private banks, who are prepared to offer up to 80% financing to qualified buyers.

Scotiabank and HSBC are offering financing of a fixed 7% and 7.25%, respectively, for the first year and then prime rate plus 3.75% for the balance.

Some visitors at the fair yesterday said they had been shopping around for a new car and decided to way for the fair before making their decision. A number of buyers were also looking to trade in their big vehicles for a smaller and more economical one.

Expomóvil organizers say that the fair, that goes on until March 2, expects to sell between 800 and 1.000 vehicles.
