Natural Gas Distributors Given Temporary Reprieve
The Ministerio de Ambiente y Energía (Minae) - environment and energy ministry - has given Zeta and Tropigas until July 15 to continue to distribute natural gas, a date which the Minae intends to announced new regulations for the natural industry.

The date was announced by Regulador General, Fernando Herrero, who said that the licenses for Zeta and Tropigas will expire on July 15.

Gas Zeta and Tropigas have been advised that their license to distribute natural gas will be suspended stemming from complaints about irregularities the way the companies handle the gas tanks.

The suspension was originally to have taken place next month, however, the Minae asked the regulator, Aresep, for more time as it is develops regulatory policies.

Zeta and Tropigas have been accused of unfair business practices refusing to fill or withhold tanks of competitors in an industry without proper regulations and policies regarding the handling and management of gas tanks.

Zeta and Tropigas, although competitors in the market, are owned by the same investors and dominate the natural gas market in the country.
