Senior To Sue Lottery
Rodrigo Zavaleta, at 85 year of age, has decided to take on the Junta de Protección Social de San José (JPSS) for not paying him his lottery price of ¢67 million colones.

If you will remember, Zavaleta misplaced his winning lottery ticket piece - number 61, series 598 - until last week, when he discovered it in a drawer and to his surprise it was a winner of the December 16 Gordo Navideño draw.

The JPSS says the rules are clear, all prizes must be claimed by not later than 60 days after the draw. The last day to claim prizes for the December 16 draw was February 14.

Zavaleta, after the euphoria of holding the winning ticket wore off, got the bad news that his ticket could not be exchanged for the prize and has decided to let the courts settle the matter.
