Central American Summit to Forge Integration

President Alvaro Colom will visit El Salvador on Wednesday, where he will meet with his counterparts Elias Antonio Saca from the host country; Daniel Ortega, Nicaragua; and Belize Prime Minister Dean Barrow.

Guatemalan new government foreign policy envisages as a priority the Central American integration, presidential spokesman Fernando Barillas declared.

Barillas specified those initiatives to strengthen Central American Parliament PARLACEN are binding, meaning mandatory fulfillment for all members will be tackled in the appointment.

The countries of the isthmus have taken important steps in free transit, visas elimination and customs union, but still there is need to progress more, the spokesman specified.

The so called extraordinary SICA Summit will be a meeting of few hours and will take place under severe security measures at Presidential House west Salvadoran capital.

The participation of Panama Vice President Ruben Arosemena is also predicted, as well as high level delegations from Honduras and Costa Rica.
