Senior Finds Misplaced Winning Lottery Ticket, Lottery Refuses To Pay
Rodrigo Zavaleta, at 85 years of age, will fighting perhaps the biggest legal battle of his life, as he takes on the Junta de Proteccion Social de San Jose (JPSS) - the lottery people - after winning a prize of ¢67.5 million colones in the December "Gordo Navideño".

Zavaleta said he misplaced the ticket and when he found it earlier this week realized it was a winner.

However, JPSS rules are clear that all winning tickets must be cashed within 60 days of the draw and the last day was February 14.

Zavaleta says he has been buying lottery tickets for more than 63 years and had never won a major prize, until now, and plans to sue the JPSS for refusing to pay him his prize money.

The senior says he felt anger, frustration, among the emotions when he learned that the lottery would not pay him and allow him to live out his remaining years with dignity.
